Deco outlines Barça's future: Signings and renewals on the horizon
FC Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, has shared his vision for the club's future in a recent interview, emphasizing the importance of renewals and the search for new talents.

Deco, the new sporting director of FC Barcelona, has made it clear that his roadmap is well defined. In a recent interview on the program 'El món a Rac1', the former Portuguese player discussed the club's plans, focusing on the need to strengthen the squad and ensure the continuity of its young talents.

The Portuguese, although reluctant to delve into details about signings out of respect for the involved clubs, did not hesitate to state that there are names in the market that could improve the team. “When we go to the market, there are players we know can contribute a lot,” Deco commented, hinting that Barça is attentive to the opportunities that arise.

Regarding Frenkie de Jong's situation, Deco defended the midfielder, stating that “he is not to blame for earning what he earns” and that his commitment to the club is undeniable. However, he also admitted that conditions for his renewal have not yet been discussed.

The sporting director also referred to the importance of renewals, mentioning young talents like Pau Cubarí, who will see his new contract activated in January, and others like Marc Bernal and Casadó. “The squad is balanced,” Deco assured, highlighting the mix of experience and youth that characterizes the team, with players like Raphinha and De Jong alongside young prospects like Pedri, Gavi, and Lamine.

Deco also shared details about his arrival at the club, recalling his meeting with Xavi: “We knew we needed an alternative, and the connection was good from the start”. This reflects the confidence he has in the project being built at Camp Nou.

In another context, Eric García's future is also up in the air. Despite his good performance, several clubs, including Girona and Real Sociedad, are interested in signing him. Barça could receive between 12 and 15 million euros for his transfer, which could be an important financial boost for the club.

Deco has made it clear that Barça is not in a hurry and that plans should be made for the long term. “Two years is enough to build a solid project,” he concluded, reaffirming his commitment to the club's future.
