Joan García's Future in Limbo: Barça Keeping a Close Eye
Espanyol's goalkeeper, Joan García, is in the spotlight following FC Barcelona's interest, which could lead him to a new destination next season.

The future of young goalkeeper Joan García has become a hot topic in Spanish football. During the recent match between Athletic Club and FC Barcelona, it was revealed that the Blaugrana have set their sights on the Espanyol keeper, who had already attracted interest from Barça for several months.

According to Cadena SER, García is aware of the Catalan club's intentions and does not rule out the possibility of being loaned to Valencia next season. However, the Sallent native has yet to make a definitive decision, as he has several proposals both nationally and internationally.

García's release clause stands at 25 million euros, a relatively affordable figure in the current market. This amount could drop to 15 million if Espanyol is relegated, while it could rise to 30 million if the player is called up by Luis de la Fuente for the senior national team.

Espanyol's coach, Manolo González, expressed skepticism about the possibility of his goalkeeper joining the eternal rival. In statements to the program 'Tu Diràs' on RAC1, González said: “I know he has a strong perico sentiment. I'm not in his head, but it would surprise me a lot if he went to Barça. They have Ter Stegen and, besides, it's the eternal rival.”

González also emphasized the importance of García making a decision that allows him to continue being a starter and happy in his career. “What I want is for him to go to a place where he plays and is happy. He shouldn't go to a place where there's an older goalkeeper who overshadows him just because of the name,” added the blanquiazul coach.

With the transfer market around the corner, Joan García's situation promises to be one of the most discussed topics in the coming weeks. Barça fans hope their club can secure the signing of this promising goalkeeper, while Espanyol supporters hold out hope that their young star will continue to defend the blanquiazul colors.
