FC Barcelona has officially ended a season that has left a mark in the club's history. With the conquest of the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de España, and the title of LALIGA EA SPORTS, the culé team has demonstrated its dominance in Spanish football. However, the elimination in the Champions League against PSG has left a bittersweet taste among the fans.
In a recent interview on Barça One, coach Hansi Flick addressed several points of interest, highlighting the importance of young talents like Pedri González and Lamine Yamal. The latter, after renewing his contract until 2031, is shaping up to be one of the great promises in world football.
This season has been a constant learning experience for Yamal, who, despite his youth, has had to deal with the pressure of being an emerging star. In a crucial match against Borussia Dortmund, he was substituted in the 70th minute, a decision that was not well received by the player. However, Flick has managed the situation well, providing the necessary support for him to understand the tactical decisions of the coaching staff.
A bright future for the young winger
David Ibáñez, the coach's assistant, commented that Flick takes the time to talk to Yamal, explaining the reasons behind his decisions. This is crucial for the young player to understand that, in the future, he may face similar situations where he will need rest.
Despite not having reached adulthood, Yamal has already become a leader within the locker room. Flick praised his talent, stating: "He is a genius. But we must help him because he is young, and while everything may seem easy now, it is not. If he wants to play at the highest level for the next 15 years, he must train and work hard".
The coach also highlighted Pedri, whom he considers a future leader of the team, and spoke about Raphinha, who, according to Flick, needs confidence to unleash his full potential. "Raphinha has quality, heart, and the right mentality. He always contributes defensively and has great potential", the coach stated.
Flick expressed his satisfaction at seeing the fans' excitement during the celebration of the three titles won, and emphasized the importance of continuing to work hard to maintain a high level of excellence. "The greatness of our work is to make the fans and players happy. I have the responsibility to keep pushing myself next season", he added.
The path to the treble was not easy, especially during November and December, when the team faced difficulties that put their league title hopes in doubt. "Here in Barcelona, sometimes there is a tendency to think negatively. We lost, yes, but we played well. I asked the players to stay calm and believe in the team", Flick reflected.
With an eye on the next season, the coach emphasized the need to maintain unity and collective effort. "We want to show that we are a great team, both defensively and offensively. That is what I expect to see on the pitch", he concluded.
