PSG Secures Spot in 2029 Club World Cup, While Barça Leads Spanish Charge
Paris Saint-Germain becomes the first European club to qualify for the 2029 Club World Cup, but FC Barcelona positions itself as the Spanish favorite for the upcoming edition.

Paris Saint-Germain has made history by becoming the first European club to secure its qualification for the 2029 Club World Cup, a tournament that promises to be a global football spectacle. Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, the French team has demonstrated its quality and ambition, reaffirming its status as one of the continent's giants.

The PSG is not only preparing for this event but will also participate in the 2025 edition, which will take place in the United States starting June 14. However, FC Barcelona, while not participating in the first World Cup, finds itself in a privileged position to qualify for the 2029 edition, leading the Spanish club ranking.

Barça Leads the Spanish Ranking

After reaching the semifinals of the Champions League in the 24/25 season, Barça has accumulated a total of 41 points, surpassing its traditional rivals, Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, both sitting at 27 points. This performance has placed the Catalan team in an enviable position, although the competition is fierce.

It is important to highlight that, according to the qualification system, there are only two spots available for Spanish clubs in the World Cup. This means that if both Madrid and Atlético manage to win two of the next three Champions editions, Barça could be left out, despite its points lead.

Each victory in the Champions grants 3 points, while a draw adds 1 point. Additionally, teams receive 3 extra points for advancing past each stage starting from the round of 16. Therefore, Barça has the opportunity to secure its place in the World Cup if it manages to win any of the upcoming Champions.

Currently, Inter Milan leads the European ranking with 48 points, followed by PSG with 43 points and Arsenal, which ties with Barça at 41 points. However, PSG is already qualified as the champion of the 24/25 season, adding pressure to the other clubs.

Qualified Teams and Mastantuono's Future

Regarding the teams qualified for the 2029 Club World Cup, PSG is placed in Group B alongside Atlético de Madrid, Brazil's Botafogo, and the Seattle Sounders from the USA. Meanwhile, Al Ahli and Pyramids FC from Egypt have also secured their participation.

On the other hand, PSG has set its sights on young Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono, who has caught the attention of several European clubs, including Barça. However, PSG seems to be taking the lead in negotiations, which could leave Barcelona in a complicated position if they wish to acquire the promising midfielder's services.

Mastantuono's performance in the upcoming Club World Cup could be crucial for his future, as his display could attract the attention of European giants. At just 17 years old, the attacking midfielder has proven to be a key player for his team, scoring 7 goals and 4 assists in 19 matches this year.

The future of European football is at stake, and both PSG and Barça are in the race for glory. Will Barcelona secure its place in the 2029 Club World Cup and compete with the world's best?
