Joan García Joins FC Barcelona: A New Goalkeeper for the Future
FC Barcelona takes a decisive step in its planning for the next season with the signing of Joan García, goalkeeper from Espanyol, who has already given his approval to join the blaugrana club.

FC Barcelona has taken an important step in its planning for the 2025/26 season by securing the signing of Joan García, current goalkeeper of Espanyol. According to sources close to the club, the player has already accepted the offer, and his agents are expected to arrive in the Catalan capital to formalize the agreement in the coming hours.

Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the contracts were already reviewed last Friday, indicating that the transfer is progressing smoothly. This move not only strengthens Barça's goalkeeping position but also marks the beginning of a new era under the management of Hansi Flick.

In a recent interview, Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, expressed optimism about the team's planning. Despite economic limitations, the executive highlighted that the club has a solid squad in defense and midfield, allowing them to focus efforts on improving the attack.

"In attack, it will depend on what we can do in the market. But perhaps it is the only area where we identify that we need one or another player"

Deco also mentioned that Barça is looking for a left winger with specific characteristics: a fast player, capable of breaking through defenses and contributing goals and assists. Names like Luis Díaz from Liverpool, Rafael Leão from AC Milan, and Ademola Lookman from Atalanta have started to emerge as potential reinforcements.

The work of the board during times of crisis was also a central theme in the conversation. Deco defended the decisions made by the club, especially the ambitious renovation of Camp Nou, which aims to increase the stadium's capacity and revenue. "The president made the bold decision to completely renovate Camp Nou. We went from a stadium for 90,000 people to one for 50,000, which significantly reduces income," he explained.

Despite the challenges, Deco expressed confidence that Barcelona is on the right path to reclaim its greatness. "Today, the club is in a better position, and we will return to play at Camp Nou with a capacity of 65,000, and the following year, practically at 100%," he concluded.
