Franco Mastantuono, new Real Madrid signing, misses Club World Cup
The young Argentine, despite his recent signing with the white club, will not participate in the tournament due to his age.

The Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Franco Mastantuono, a promising 17-year-old Argentine talent. However, the club faces a peculiar situation: the player will not be able to debut in the Club World Cup due to not having reached the legal age.

Regulations state that players must be at least 18 years old to participate in international competitions, and Mastantuono will not meet this requirement until August 15. This situation recalls past instances with other young talents like Vinicius, Endrick, and Rodrygo, who also had to wait to join the first team.

In the meantime, the young Argentine will compete in the Club World Cup with his current team, River Plate, where he has secured a spot in the starting eleven. The official statement from Real Madrid has confirmed that the player will join the club as soon as he turns 18, allowing him to be available for the start of the 2025-2026 season.

The transfer of Mastantuono has been finalized for a figure close to 50 million euros, which includes the release clause and other fiscal expenses. The agreement between Real Madrid and River Plate had been delayed due to negotiations over the payment method, but a consensus has finally been reached that allowed for the official announcement of his signing.

With this addition, Real Madrid adds a new talent to its project under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, who already has other reinforcements like Trent Alexander Arnold and Dean Huijsen. However, Mastantuono's absence from the Club World Cup leaves a bittersweet taste for fans, who were eager to see the young Argentine shine on the international stage.
