In a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, former Brazilian footballer Cafú shared his insights on the future of AC Milan, the club where he shone during his career. At the center of the conversation was Luka Modric, who, after the Club World Cup, seems to have a clear destination: the rossoneri.
"I saw him a few days ago, but he didn't ask me anything about life in Milan," Cafú joked, hinting that the Croatian's arrival at the Italian club is almost a certainty. The former right-back, World Cup champion with Brazil, did not hold back in praising Modric, stating that "he is a signing that would fit perfectly at Milan, a club that has historically attracted great talents".
The Brazilian highlighted Modric's qualities, describing him as a natural leader and a former Ballon d'Or winner: "He moves the ball like few in the world, and age doesn't matter to him. We might not realize it, but the former Real Madrid captain has arrived, a guy with a suitcase full of titles".
At 39 years old, Modric is currently in the United States, where he will compete in the Club World Cup with Real Madrid. This tournament will be his last competition with the white team, as after his contract ends, the Croatian intends to continue his career in Europe, seeking a high-level club to prepare for next year's World Cup.
Real Madrid, aware of Modric's importance in its history, wanted to pay him a special tribute. During his farewell at Valdebebas, the club unveiled a jersey featuring Modric's '10' number, adorned with images of the player, a gesture that reflects the affection and respect he has earned over the years.
However, the shadow of his departure from the white club looms over Santiago Bernabéu, where fans are beginning to feel the absence of one of their greatest idols. Modric's potential arrival at Milan would not only mark the end of an era at Real Madrid but could also signify a new chapter in the history of the Italian club, which seeks to regain its status in the elite of European football.
